It helps enormously if you include the address of the page you were capturing from and what you expected instead of what you got. A screenshot of the panel is worth several paragraphs.
Things that go wrong most often
The capture came back missing hover states or breakpoints
Those live in the page's stylesheets rather than in its computed styles, and many sites serve their CSS from a separate domain the browser will not let a page script read. The panel's Report tab says when that has happened. Deep Scan, on Pro, fetches those stylesheets so the rules come through; it asks for permission the first time you use it.
An animation did not come across
TailSnap reads CSS. Animations built in JavaScript — GSAP, scroll libraries, a motion library running on the page itself — leave nothing behind in the stylesheet, so nothing that reads a page from the outside can recover them. CSS keyframes do come across, as a Framer Motion layer.
An element captured as an empty box
That is <canvas>, WebGL, or a component with a closed shadow root. There is
no markup underneath for anyone to read. The Report tab lists these rather than passing them
off as an empty div.
The extension does nothing on a particular page
Chrome blocks extensions on its own pages — chrome:// URLs, the Web Store, and the
new-tab page. It works on any ordinary http or https page.
I paid and Pro has not switched on
The panel collects the licence by itself within a few seconds of the payment clearing; there is no key to copy out of an email. If it is still on Free after a minute, open the panel and press Check again on the pending-purchase notice. If that does not do it, write to us with the email address you paid with and we will sort it out by hand.
I want to move my licence to another machine
A licence covers three devices. Open TailSnap settings on a machine you no longer use and sign out — that frees the seat immediately.
Refunds, billing and cancellation
Payments are handled by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, so invoices and cancellation live in their portal — the link is at the bottom of the receipt they emailed you. Our refund policy explains what we refund and when. Write to us either way; we would rather refund you than have you fight a form.
Privacy and data
Captures, settings and your library stay in your browser profile. The extension contains no analytics and no telemetry of any kind. The privacy policy sets out exactly what leaves your machine and when — the short version is a licence check, and cloud sync if you turn it on.
Reporting a bug
Send the page address, the element you picked, and the generated code. A capture that comes out wrong is almost always reproducible from those three things, and a fix usually ships within a week.
